sad news, everyone. we've lost another first cat. socks, the clinton's black and white tuxedo cat, passed away on friday at the age of 19. socks joined the clinton family in 1991 when chelsea adopted him as a stray. socks fun fact! In 1996, Socks appeared on a series of stamps in the Central African Republic with Bill Clinton.
in january, india, the bush family's first cat passed away at 18 years of age. the black american shorthair was named after a pro ball player and was featured in a few of the bush whitehouse's holiday movies alongside his canine brother, barney.
perhaps socks and india are now up in kitty heaven rabble rousing and putting their partisan politics aside in favor of a good old cat nap.
