the science behind rollin'

scientists have recently come up with a theory about why cats roll. it's actually not really that interesting. something about mating behavior.

what i'm thinking is - how awesome would it be to watch cats roll around all day and call it work? sorry guys, can't blog anymore, i'm busy playing with my cats doing science!

dottie's day off

a new study has found that cats fake sick when upset by changes in their environment.

the key is to lick your palms. it's a little childish and stupid, but then, so is high school.

"when cats are upset about a change in their environment, they let you know by acting sick - refusing to eat and vomiting excessively, even if they're healthy... this translated to a 3.2-fold increase in the risk for sickness behaviors by all cats when their routines were disrupted."

well duh. any cat person can tell you that they're total drama queens.

cat scene investigation

lucy could be the become next horatio caine as feline furr-ensics rise in popularity.

cat (and dog) blood, hair, saliva, urine, feces and tissue have all been used to recover DNA as evidence in trials in which animals were witness, victim, suspect or just stay-at-home pets.

so that pesky cat hair isn't just annoying - it could be evidence if you're ever convicted of "fowl" play.
