remote control mouse madness!

this just in in the "things to annoy your cat" department... we now have remote control mice! need i say more?

another favorite toy around here is undercover mouse. a mechanical-arm swings around under a nylon canopy, mimicking the natural movements of mice, or human feet (best prey at 5am).

dottie and lucy are both big fans - as are cleo and fiona.

we've always done things a little differently and it looks like our store-cats are following suit. dottie loves the new bergan lounger (made out of recycled paper!). though she can't be like all the other cats so she prefers it upside-down for it's optimal cuddle-friendly cubby hole. eh, we can't blame her. it does look cozy!

this cute video is making the rounds on the interwebz - we like it not because the cat is drinking water from the sink (that's what they love!) but because he doesn't care how wet he gets while doing it!

the nerds over at geekologie have found another awesome robot/cardboard cat fortress. bonus! check out the name on said fortress. we are not alone!

the today show is having a "cutest cat" contest - we voted for all of them!

mirror cats and "the lion"

they've become self-aware! cats seem to have a fascinating relationship with the looking glass. some ignore it, others fight the elusive cat hidden within it, and still others seem to recognize it for what it is and appreciate it as such. whatever their true feelings for mirrors, it sure is fun to watch them watch themselves.

this video has two kitty youngsters seeing a mirror for the very first time. notice how the orange one waits for his opponent to attack and then gets bored waiting. lol!

in sad news, senator ted kennedy passed away last night. he was a man for the people and a friend of animals and will be remembered as such.

"Splash is a part of our family, but he's part of the senate family as well. He comes to work with me every day with his little niece Sunny and members of the senate dome. He's not allowed to go on the senate floor. He's troubled by that... because he thinks, he says that they won't let him on because people will say that they don't think he knows how to behave. But actually, he says that he behaves a lot better than most senators."
