dog chew recall

one of our more popular rawhide chews, pigskin porkies, have been voluntarily recalled by the manufacturer due to possible banned antibiotics found in the chinese-sourced chicken.  any porkies can be returned for a full refund.  note: no health problems have been reported.

this latest incident has pushed us to stick to our convictions and drop the product altogether.  bad quality-control and manufacturing practices are all-too-common in chinese production and we, as a company, are getting away from such sources in order to carry more domestically-produced natural chews like Bixbi, True Chews, and Etta Says.

senorita spot - FIV-positively stunning

we are excited to introduce our monroe street store's newest foster-cat-in-residence... senorita spot.  she's a kitler with a heart of gold.

she is the first FIV+ cat to be hosted by madcat via friends of ferals. feline immunodeficiency virus is species-specific and can not be transmitted to humans, dogs, rabbits, etc.

spot is 4 years old and has spent years in foster care due to problems with her teeth resulting in their total removal (no dentals! w00t).  she still enjoys eating both wet and dry food and with no chompers there is very reduced risk of FIV transmission to other cats. in fact spot has lived with other cats while in foster care and would to go to a home with brothers and sisters to play with.

interested?  the adoption fee is $20 and applications are available in-store or online.

2012 adoptions - a fuzzy review

we restarted our in-store cage adoption program in july, partnering with dane county friends of ferals to place adoptable cats in our westside and monroe street stores.

as you can see from the furry faces above, it was a total success with 16 cats being adopted out in five months: dax, deedee, folgers, autumn, isaac, jedi, chica, cali, pomona, minerva, sybil, tufster, mulan, vlad, larry and madonna.

we hope to continue this progress throughout 2013 and keep marching towards a better madison for all cats.
